About Us

Our Mission

The Vaughn Park Church exists to share the good news of Jesus Christ so that people are drawn by His love, saved by His grace, changed by His power and committed to His ministry.

Our Values

These ten core values express both who we are and what we hope to become. They clarify the attitudes and approaches to ministry that help us accomplish our mission.

* Biblical truth is the standard for the church, and it should be communicated in relevant terms.

God’s word equips us to discern what is best for the church above traditions, trends and opinions. As God revealed His word originally to address actual life needs, we strive to communicate and serve in the most relevant means possible without compromising truth.

* Followers of Christ seek Him in fervent prayer and devote their lives to Him completely.

We encourage in-depth Bible study, earnest prayer, participation in assemblies, generous giving, moral discipline and loving obedience.

* Meaningful worship focuses on God, comes from the heart and is Biblically directed.

Worship focuses on God, not man, and it is neither bound by tradition nor driven by trends. Worship assemblies should be Biblical and meaningful for both believers and non-believers.

* Saved people share the gospel through intentional evangelism and compassionate service.

Lost and hurting people matter to God and therefore matter to us. We want to imitate Christ by addressing human need and using every possible means to bring others to Him. This includes opening our facilities to the community for any wholesome endeavor.

* Spirit-led Christians build up the body of Christ through gift-based ministry and loving relationships.

We seek a healthy congregational climate of unity, teamwork, servant hood, love-driven ministry, moral and theological humility, ethical accountability, intergenerational respect and Christ-like conflict resolution.

* God’s grace transforms our lives, motivates our ministries and guides our relationships.

In response to God’s grace, we want others to know the joy of His forgiveness. We renounce legalistic and self-righteous religion. We want to reflect Christ, accepting and motivating people through love and thankfulness rather than guilt, shame and mere duty.

* Strong families are God’s basic means of instilling love, faith, values and belonging in our loves.

We provide resources to equip, build and rebuild families, with an emphasis on shaping the faith of the next generation through ministry to children and teens.

* Authentic fellowship builds bridges, changes lives, strengthens faith and deepens spirituality.

We want every member to know they belong, and every guest to feel at home. We encourage deep friendships, hospitality, small groups, peer groups, crisis support and other ways of building genuine Christian relationships.

* Christ’s servants should strive for excellence, presenting their ministry as a sacrifice to God.

We put forth an intense effort to please God in our ministries and activities, and we evaluate our work to insure a standard of excellence.

* Leaders and followers share the responsibility for mutual respect and joyful cooperation.

Leaders strive to earn and maintain respect through prayerful wisdom and godly servant leadership. Followers endeavor to show an amiable spirit that does not place undue hardship on the elders.
